Episode 24 is titled “Biblio-Archaeology 101”
On the next podcast I talk about the book Roman Britain. It’s a great book. Filled with maps and drawings and insights into the ancient world. I didn’t really pay any attention to the author R.G. Collingwood until I came across his name in another book by Mary Beard.
Sometimes going on a dig can be putting pieces of a puzzle not found underground. Beard’s book Confronting the Classics, reviews the book History Man: The Life of R.G. Collingwood by Fred Inglis. Sometimes it fun to check out the author.
Collingwood is an interesting fellow, and I have read this book multiple times, for it’s the first time I felt truly ‘enlightened’ by the contents. Check out page 15.
Also check out the great map on the inside cover. If I decided to tramp through England to search out the past I would shove this book into my knapsack, AND a second pair of socks.

Anyone up to join me for a walking trip across England to old archaeological Romano sites? Well, if I had to choose on one book to take with me, this would be the one.
Join me on a short adventure next time on Ancient Rome Refocused. It all starts in 1925 when a guy named T.H. Harris bought a book.
